Πριν από λίγες μέρες, μου πρότεινε μία αγαπημένη φίλη κάποια βιβλία για δώρα σε ανθρώπους που εκτιμώ. Αγόρασα 2 από αυτά με σκοπό να τα στείλω άμεσα για δώρο... μετά σκέφτηκα να τα ξεφυλλίσω λίγο πρώτα, και βυθίστηκα στο ένα από αυτά, με τη δικαιολογία πως και να το έστελνα τώρα κανένας δεν θα ήταν στο γραφείο του να το παραλάβει (τέλος Ιουλίου 2016!).
'Ο Δικηγόρος', Βιβλιοπωλείον της Εστίας, που αναφέρεται στη ζωή και το έργο του Τρύφωνα Κουταλίδη, ενός από τους μεγάλους δικηγόρους της χώρας μας που είχε την τύχη και την ικανότητα να συνεργαστεί με επίσης μεγάλους επιχειρηματίες, πολιτικούς, και διακεκριμένους επαγγελματίες της Ελλάδος. Ένα εξαιρετικό βιβλίο, οδοιπορικό στην Ελλάδα του 1940-2012, με τα καλά της και τα αναλλοίωτα μειονεκτήματά της που συχνά εξηγούν τη σημερινή μας κατάσταση. Η επιμονή του δικηγόρου για σχολαστικότητα, μελέτη-έρευνα, οργάνωση, συνέπεια και καταγραφή στοιχείων στις σχέσεις του με πελάτες - συνεργάτες συνθέτουν τον επαγγελματισμό του και δίνουν με απλό τρόπο την εξήγηση γιατί ξεχώριζε έναντι άλλων στο πεδίο δράσης του. Ένα βιβλίο που ενημερώνει, διδάσκει, εξηγεί, καταγράφει την κοινωνία και την οικονομία της εποχής του, και δεν φοβάται να σχολιάσει ανθρώπους και γεγονότα. Πιστεύω πως τα γραφόμενά του θα με βοηθήσουν τόσο στο δικό μου επάγγελμα, όσο και στην κατανόηση και αντίληψη των όσων συμβαίνουν γύρω μου, για το δικηγορικό-δικαστικό επάγγελμα, και ευρύτερα.

Few days ago, a dear friend suggested a few books to me - i wanted to send to professional associates as a 'thank you' gift for their work. I bought two of them with the intention to send them immediately, and skimmed through to see what they were talking about. I was literally enchanted by one of them and read it with almost one breath! My excuse was that the person i was about to send this book would not be at his office to receive it anyway (end of July 2016 in Greece!).
'The Lawyer' which is written and based on the life of a well known and widely recognized lawyer, Tryfon Koutalidis, who was born in 1934 and died in 2012, living mostly in Athens and working with local and international clients as a lawyer specialized initially in airspace and naval law, and gradually working with many entrepreneurs, politicians and well renowned corporations globally active. A great book depicting the social, cultural and financial matters of Greece within the period of 1940 untill 2012, often providing evidence on why Greece is still on crises. The lawyer's perseverance, his insistence to study hard and perform deep research on every legal matter he was asked to resolve, his organised spirit and file keeping habit, his consistency and respect of deadlines and his habit to write down and share everything shared within a meeting with a prospective or a current client build on his high professionalism and easily explain his value and great reputation against other lawyers of his time.
An informative, and highly valuable book which does not hesitate to provide personal comments on people and facts on the period the author-lawyer lived and worked. I believe this book will help me on my work and on understanding of the legal profession and of the market at a wider scale.
I feel deeply grateful for this valuable book suggestion and for the hours i spent with this book.
